K.R Sridhar is the founder and CEO of Bloom Energy. Sridhar earned a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Regional Engineering College Trichy. Then he moved to US and got a MS in Nuclear Engineering and a PHD in Mechanical Engineering. Sridhar was the director of the Space Technology Laboratories. NASA as asked the lab to come up with new ideas to make life sustainable on Mars. The Space Technology Lab made a device which uses the solar power and Mars water to produce Oxygen to breath and Hydrogen to fuel the vehicle. Later NASA abandoned the project. Then Sridhar worked reverse engineering of the process. Sridhar created a fuel cell which converts any type of fuel and oxygen into electricity. He came up with a brand new Idea of Boom Energy.
Bloom Energy fuel cell works like this Oxygen is pumped on one side and Natural gas is on other. The two combines inside the cell to create the chemical reaction that produces the electricity. No burning no combustion no power lines from outside.
Mr. Sridhar claims the with in a decade every house will have this box to power the house. According to him a small box (as shown above) is enough for an American home and the same can be enough for four Indian homes to give electricity with out interruption 24X7 and 365 days.
